An Aimsir Inniu: The Weather Today
Four kinds of weather before lunch, which is one ordinary morning.
Dúisím agus féachaim amach an fhuinneog.
I wake up and look out the window.
Tá sé ag cur báistí.
It is raining.
Tá an spéir liath.
The sky is grey.
Tógaim mo chóta agus mo scáth fearthainne.
I take my coat and my umbrella.
Ag a haon déag, stopann an bháisteach.
At eleven, the rain stops.
Tagann an ghrian amach.
The sun comes out.
Tá sé te anois.
It is warm now.
Ansin tagann an ghaoth.
Then the wind comes.
Tá sé fuar arís.
It is cold again.
Ceithre shaghas aimsire roimh am lóin.
Four kinds of weather before lunchtime.
Sin Éire duit.
That's Ireland for you.
A note on this one
The forecast in Irish gives rain its own vocabulary: ceobhrán is the drizzle that soaks you without seeming to, múr is the shower that comes and goes, and ag stealladh is the downpour. There is no single word for what English calls nice weather.
