Ag an Scoil: At School
A school morning from the bell to the yard, with one hard sum in the middle.
Téim ar scoil gach lá.
I go to school every day.
Siúlaim ann le mo chara.
I walk there with my friend.
Tosaíonn an rang ar a naoi a chlog.
The class starts at nine o'clock.
Suím síos agus osclaím mo mhála.
I sit down and open my bag.
Tá peann agus leabhar agam.
I have a pen and a book.
Tá an múinteoir go deas.
The teacher is nice.
Déanaimid Gaeilge ar maidin.
We do Irish in the morning.
Ansin déanaimid mata.
Then we do maths.
Ní thuigim an cheist seo.
I don't understand this question.
Cabhraíonn an múinteoir liom.
The teacher helps me.
Ag a haon a chlog, téimid amach.
At one o'clock, we go out.
Imrímid peil sa chlós.
We play football in the yard.
A note on this one
Múinteoir covers a teacher of any age group, and in a Gaelscoil the whole day runs through Irish, sums included. Rang a trí is third class, counted the same way the years of school always were.
