Name the 32 Counties of Ireland in Irish

A blank map of Ireland and thirty-two counties to name in Irish. Type the Irish name and the county fills in. Loch Garman, Uíbh Fhailí, Port Láirge: how many can you get without looking?

How it works

A blank map of Ireland and thirty-two counties to name. Type a county's name in Irish and it fills in and tells you what it means. There is a counter, a best score, and a list in English of the ones you have not got yet if you want it.

How it is marked

The article is optional, so An Clár and Clár both count. A missing síneadh fada still counts, but the county comes up amber rather than green and you are told what you left off, because Uibh Fhaili and Uíbh Fhailí are not the same word.

The thirty-two counties in Irish

Several are nothing like the English, which is half the point: Wexford is Loch Garman, Offaly is Uíbh Fhailí and Waterford is Port Láirge.
