The Jig (Port)

A bouncy tune in 6/8, one of the oldest Irish dance forms.

The jig, in lilting 6/8 time (the double jig), is among the oldest and most characteristic Irish dance rhythms. Variants include the single jig and the slip jig, and jigs are central to both solo step dance and set dancing.
