Irish Bouzouki (An Búsúcaí)

A Greek import adapted into the beating heart of trad accompaniment.

Introduced to Irish music in the 1960s by players such as Johnny Moynihan and Dónal Lunny, the bouzouki was adapted with a flatter back and reordered strings. It provides much of the rhythmic and harmonic backing in modern trad.
