Concertina (An Consairtn)
A small, hexagonal free-reed instrument, a mainstay of Clare music.
The Anglo concertina reached Ireland in the 19th century and became especially beloved in County Clare. Its bellows and buttons let players roll out lively reels and jigs, and it suits both dance music and slow airs.
