The Partholonians (Muintir Partholóin)

The second group to settle Ireland after the Flood, though they also died out.

Three hundred years after the Great Flood, a new group arrived in Ireland led by Partholón. They found a desolate land with only one open plain, three lakes, and nine rivers. During their time, they cleared four more great plains and seven new lakes burst forth from the ground.

The Partholonians were credited with introducing civilization to Ireland. They brought the first cattle, built the first houses, and brewed the first ale. They also fought the first battle on Irish soil against the Fomorians, a mysterious and chaotic race of giants.

Despite their achievements, the Partholonians' time in Ireland ended in tragedy. On the festival of Beltane, a mysterious plague struck their settlement at Tallaght (meaning "Plague Grave"), wiping out the entire population of nine thousand people in a single week.
