Cú Chulainn (Cú Chulainn)

The greatest warrior of the Ulster Cycle, known as the 'Hound of Culann'. He defended Ulster single-handedly in the Táin Bó Cúailnge.

Born as Sétanta, he earned the name Cú Chulainn ("Culann's Hound") as a boy when he killed the ferocious guard dog of the smith Culann in self-defense and offered to take its place until a new puppy was reared.

He became the champion of Ulster, known for his incredible strength and skill with the Gáe Bulg, a barbed spear thrown with the foot. In battle, he would undergo a terrifying transformation called the 'ríastrad' (warp-spasm), becoming an unrecognizable monster.

His most famous feat was the defense of Ulster during the Táin Bó Cúailnge (Cattle Raid of Cooley). While the men of Ulster were cursed with labor pains, the 17-year-old Cú Chulainn held off Queen Medb's entire army single-handedly for months, fighting her champions one by one at a ford.
