The Nine Years' War

1594-1603 — Hugh O'Neill's great Gaelic revolt against Tudor conquest.

Led by Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone, and Red Hugh O'Donnell, the Nine Years' War (1594–1603) was the last great stand of Gaelic Ireland against English conquest. Early Irish victories gave way to defeat at the Battle of Kinsale in 1601, and the war's end paved the way for the Flight of the Earls.
