The Battle of Clontarf

1014 — Brian Boru's great victory that broke Viking power in Ireland.

On Good Friday 1014, the forces of High King Brian Boru defeated a Norse–Leinster alliance at Clontarf near Dublin. The battle broke the political power of the Vikings in Ireland, but Brian himself was killed in his tent in the very hour of victory.
