Newgrange (Sí an Bhrú)

A prehistoric monument in County Meath, older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids.

Newgrange is a grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic period, around 3200 BC. It is famous for the winter solstice illumination, where the rising sun shines through a 'roof-box' above the entrance and floods the inner chamber with light.

The mound is ringed by 97 large kerbstones, some of which are engraved with megalithic art. It is part of the Brú na Bóinne complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
