Focal an Lae: Bodhrán

Sunday, 11 October 2026

Bodhrán (BOW-rawn) is the Irish for a frame drum.

The goatskin drum of Irish music, and the word comes from bodhar, deaf, because of the dull sound of it. It was a farm tool before it was an instrument, used for winnowing grain.
