Fáilte — welcome. If you've ever felt the pull of Ireland, its language, its old stories and songs, and wished you had somewhere gentle to begin, this is it.
Love Irish is a free home for learning Gaeilge, the Irish language built for absolute beginners, for the diaspora reconnecting with home, and for anyone who simply loves the sound of it. No pressure, no paywall. Just the language and the culture it grew from, in one calm place.
Here's how to find your way around.
Learn the words
Start on the dashboard, where you'll find hundreds of Irish words as flashcards, a new Focal an Lae (Word of the Day) each morning, and a search for anything you're curious about. Every word can be heard aloud, so you're never guessing how Gaeilge actually sounds.
Make them stick
Learning a language is really about remembering it, so Love Irish is built around that:
- A Learning Path that takes you theme by theme — greetings, numbers, family, food — so you always know where to start next.
- A daily Review that uses spaced repetition: the words you find hard come back more often, the easy ones space out. Five minutes a day is enough to keep a streak — and your Irish — alive.
- A Quiz (including a listening mode) and a Spelling practice with a built-in fada helper, for when you want to test yourself.
Explore the culture
Language and culture are one and the same, so there's far more here than vocabulary. Wander through Ireland's history, its mythology and music, the meaning behind its places, and a collection of seanfhocail the old proverbs that hold the country's wisdom in a single line.
